How will your project impact Oberlin?

Preparing for its 28th summer, the Oberlin-in-Italy program seeks your support to offer five Oberlin students a $500 stipend towards their program fees. The program provides a comprehensive professional experience combining language study with an intensive Italian opera-training program featuring lessons, coachings, master classes, and professional productions in prestigious performance venues. This year’s featured operas: L'elisir d'amore by Donizetti L'incoronazione di Poppea by Monteverdi, Suor Angelica by Puccini, and Alcina by Handel.

Singers work closely with the faculty of distinguished artists, teachers, coaches, conductors, and stage directors, who are currently active in opera’s top companies and institutions to further advance artistic growth and to produce important contacts with a network of leading industry professionals.

The opportunities provided by the Oberlin in Italy program laid the foundation for me as an artist...the immersive nature of the program allowed me to experience life not as a student, but as an opera professional... I still find myself drawing on my summer experiences in my career…
Eric Einhorn (OC ’02), stage director, Metropolitan Opera
