How will your project impact Oberlin?

A healthy student body has a better chance of succeeding in school, in their extracurricular activities and sports, and of going on to success after graduation. By providing additional therapy tools and office equipment, the Counseling Center seeks to continue delivering topnotch psychological support services.

Primarily intended for assessment and short-term counseling, with referrals to private counselors in the Oberlin area if necessary, the Counseling Center is funded through tuition and services are free of charge. Students can discuss and explore freely, in confidence, any problems, feelings, or fears that are important to them, with the ultimate goal of growing in self-understanding to better cope with the immediate situation and with future decisions.

In order to develop a better process to help students learn and to analyze the issues that our college population is facing, funds raised would go towards the creation and/or purchase of psychological inventories and tests that help students learn about themselves. To move our office processing into the 21st century, we are also interested in purchasing paperless technologies that can eliminate significant printing and filing costs. Additional funds raised will be used to purchase office resources to provide relaxation and mediation services for students.
